Prize draw

 

Our prize draw gives you the chance to win one of the exclusive prizes listed below, while supporting the National Literacy Trust's work to help struggling children read and write. 

To enter, just text BOOK to 84222. Text entry to the draw costs £1 plus your standard network rate. The charity will receive 56p of this. You will make a further £2 donation (100% goes to the charity) unless you choose to opt out by replying STOP to the first text message you receive.

Terms and conditions
  1. The prize draw is open to residents of the UK aged 18 and over, excluding employees of the National Literacy Trust, its agents and anyone else professionally connected with the promotion, and their immediate families.
  2. The promotional period starts on 26 June 2014 and closes 11.59pm on 15 October 2014.
  3. To enter, text 'BOOK' to 84222. This will cost £1 plus your standard network rate. On entry, you will receive a message confirming your entry. If you do not wish to make a donation, you should reply to the number given quoting 'STOP' within 30 minutes of sending the first text. If an entrant does not text 'STOP' within 30 minutes of receiving text confirmation of their entry, a £2 donation will be deducted from their account.
  4. No entry fee is necessary for this competition. To enter free of charge (without incurring any entry fee) please send a postcard entitled 'BOOK' with your name, address and contact details to National Literacy Trust, 68 South Lambeth Road, London SW8 1RL. Each entry either via text or post will receive one entry into the draw.
  5. The National Literacy Trust will receive at least 20p from every entry. If you enter by text, and you do not reply containing the word 'STOP' you will make a further £2 donation and National Literacy Trust will receive 100% of this donation.
  6. Text entries that are received after the competition closing date will not be counted but will incur the cost of a standard network rate text and may still incur the £1 entry charge and £2 donation.
  7. Text entries that are incomplete or contain an incorrect keyword will be deemed invalid and will not count as an entry, but may still be liable for entry costs (plus standard network costs).
  8. National Literacy Trust does not accept any liability for any technical malfunction, whether through a website failure, lack of network service, service provider failure, virus or other technical malfunction, which causes entries to be lost, misdirected, delayed or corrupted. National Literacy Trust does not accept any liability for any malfunction which means that entrants are unable to cancel their donation nor for any loss arising from entry to this competition.

  10. There are no cash alternatives to the prize and prizes cannot be sold, exchanged, transferred or bartered. In certain circumstances and at National Literacy Trust's sole discretion, the prize may be allocated to individuals who are named by the winner. National Literacy Trust has the right to refuse to allocate a prize to any individual named by a winner at its sole discretion.
  11. The winners will be drawn at random under independent supervision within 48 hours of the closing date and notified by telephone within 24 hours of the draw being made. In the event that contact cannot be made within a further 24 hours, National Literacy Trust reserves the right to withdraw prize entitlement and award the prize to a reserve drawn at the same time as the original.
  12. The judges' decision is final in every situation and no correspondence will be entered into.
  13. Any winner who has a disability which may mean he or she has difficulty enjoying their prize should contact National Literacy Trust to discuss any reasonable steps that would help overcome or minimise the difficulty. National Literacy Trust accepts no responsibility if winners are unable to take up the prize for any reason and no alternative prize will be offered. National Literacy Trust may refuse to allocate a prize to a winner at its sole discretion in any other reasonable circumstances. In such circumstances National Literacy Trust shall have no liability for any loss of any kind incurred by the winner.
  14. National Literacy Trust shall have no liability for loss of any kind in the event that it has to cancel the prize or alter the time, date or location of the prize. National Literacy Trust reserves the right to substitute or withdraw a prize if this is necessary for reasons beyond its control.
  15. By entering this competition, all entrants accept the terms and conditions and consent to filming and/or photography of the prize.
  16. By entering the competition, all entrants grant National Literacy Trust their permission to use and reproduce any photographs and/or footage throughout the world for any purpose in any media including but not limited to, its use in full or edited or amalgamated form on television programmes of any kind.
  17. The winners may be required to take part in post-event publicity and entry shall be deemed to be consent to take part in such publicity as required by National Literacy Trust.
  18. National Literacy Trust reserves the right to use the winners name for promotional purposes on its website or elsewhere. These will only be in summary (eg. Mr Smith of Leeds).
  19. Personal data will be taken where necessary from all entries received but shall be limited to those details reasonably necessary for the administration of the competition. This information may be shared with any other third party reasonably involved in the competition without liability to National Literacy Trust or such third parties.
  20. The promoter is National Literacy Trust, 68 South Lambeth Road, London SW8 1RL and the draw is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and the Courts of England and Wales shall have sole jurisdiction over any dispute.
