Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, first published in 1813, follows the main character Elizabeth Bennet. She is the second of five sisters, whose mother frets about them finding suitable husbands. When Mr Bingley arrives in the neighbourhood with Mr Darcy, a story of love and heartbreak ensues. 

Pride and Prejudice has become one of the most popular novels in English literature and receives considerable attention from literary scholars. To date, the book has sold some 20 million copies worldwide.
