Agatha Christie fans gather for official opening of the BookBench

Thursday the 31st July, 2014

Agatha Christie fans gathered at the Hercule Poirot and the Greenshore Folly BookBench on Saturday for the official opening of the bench, and to meet some famous faces.

The event was attended by Agatha Christie’s grandson, Matthew Prichard, who read an extract from Hercule Poirot and the Greenshore Folly to a rapt audience in the afternoon sunshine.

Legendary illustrator Tom Adams was also at the bench to answer questions from fans who have loved his designs for Agatha Christie novels since the 1970s. He also designed the artwork for Hercule Poirot and the Greenshore Folly.

Bench artist Mandii Pope, who brought the bench to life with her wonderful artwork, was at the BookBench on the Bloomsbury trail.

Attendees also eagerly snapped pictures with a Poriot look-a-like and 25 lucky people won books in a giveaway courtesy of HarperCollins publishers.
